PTA Mission Statement
Striving for enrichment and educational excellence throughout the Twin Hickory Elementary School community.
The primary goal of the PTA is to strengthen our family units, our schools and our communities through parent/family involvement. PTA recognizes parents as the first educators in the home and works to promote parents as partners in the school. The Virginia PTA is the strongest group of volunteers in the state working exclusively on behalf of children and youth.
TRAILBLAZER CLUB/PTA MEMBERSHIP
As a Trailblazer Club member, your annual VA PTA membership can help you build a village to support your child and connect you locally and nationally to a network that supports all children. When you belong to our PTA, you amplify your voice in our community and will positively impact students, families, schools, and education programs and services. We’re all in this together! Join here!
Gain access to an extensive library of online resources on topics like family engagement and school improvement, testing and assessments, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), digital safety reading/literacy, support for children with special needs, diversity, equity and inclusion best practices and more!
There are no requirements of your membership but, when you go a step further and volunteer to help with events—or join our board— you set a fine example for our students to follow, and greatly encourage our teachers and staff.

In What Ways Does TBC Create Connections?
When you belong to the THES TBC, you’ll meet new people and families in a welcoming environment. You’ll connect with other families with kids your child’s age, teachers and school staff, and more!
Connect to important school and community resources that you can use to support your child’s academic, social, and emotional well-being.
Strengthen our community—we need your unique perspective to make a difference!
How Does the PTA Create Connections to Benefit My Child and Me?
The THES PTA events and meetings give you a fun place to get to know people and share ideas.
Access resources inside and outside the school building, like mental health resources from the Healthy Minds Program or parenting news and tips from the Notes from the Backpack podcast.
We use your dues, ideas, and feedback to improve the school grounds and host events that create opportunities for your child!
In What Ways Does PTA Amplify My Voice?
When you belong to the THES PTA, your voice can positively impact students,
families and schools, as well as education programs and services.
IF I JOIN, DO I HAVE TO....
Go to meetings?
No! You are welcome to attend our general meetings though.
Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?
Nope! Joining the PTA is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer we would LOVE the help-- but, volunteering is not required.
Joining the TBC provides you with great discounts through the VA PTA.
