Discover the Vibrant World of Reflections Program

Welcome to the Reflections Program!

Step into a world of artistic expression and creativity with the Reflections program, ignited by Mary Lou Anderson in 1969. This incredible opportunity empowers students in pre-K through grade 12 to explore their passions, boost their confidence, and thrive in the arts and beyond, all while embracing a student-created theme selected through the annual Reflections Theme Search Contest.

Artistic excellence knows no bounds, as submissions advance from local PTA competitions through district, region, council, and state levels to the national stage, offering recognition and awards that celebrate artistic achievement and ingenuity.

Artistic Journey Across Divisions:

Students shine in the division that matches their grade: primary (pre-K to grade 2), intermediate (grades 3-5), middle school (grades 6-8), high school (grades 9-12), and special artist (all grades welcome).

Dive into categories such as dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Keep in mind that category guidelines may vary by state, so refer to Virginia's PTA Reflections website for details.

Empowering the Special Artist:

The special artist division, born from collaboration between PTA volunteers and arts professionals, paves the way for students with disabilities to shine. Aligned with their functional abilities, students can participate in the general student population division or the special artist division, fostering inclusivity and recognition for their unique talents.

How to Register and Illuminate the Arts:

Registration, open from April 1 to February 1, is your chance to showcase the far-reaching impact of the Reflections program. While registration doesn't confirm participation, it's a vital step in celebrating artistic brilliance and innovation. Visit PTA.org/Reflections and join us in nurturing a world of creativity!

Celebrating Excellence on the National Stage:

State-winning creations venture through two rounds of evaluation, leading to the grand celebration of over 200 talented students. The coveted awards – Award of Merit, Award of Excellence, and Award of Outstanding Interpretation – are announced on May 1, setting the stage for a year-long celebration of artistic achievement.

Curious about the remarkable journey and prizes that await national awardees? Delve into the details at PTA.org/ReflectionsAwards and be part of this vibrant tapestry of artistic brilliance!
