Hello!  My name is Josh Skillman and I am honored to serve as your Twin Hickory Elementary School PTA President for the 2023-24 school year.  I have two children at THES, a second grader and a fifth grader, and they have absolutely loved their THES experience.  Our family loves Twin Hickory Elementary School.  The leadership team, the teachers, and the staff are AMAZING and they have made our experience wonderful. If you are new to Twin Hickory Elementary School, then let me be among the first to send you a warm welcome.  If you are a returning member to the THES community, let me welcome you back!

On behalf of our current PTA Executive Board, let me say that we would absolutely welcome your involvement in the PTA this year.  Becoming involved in the PTA is a great way to help support the teachers and school administrative team while also building a positive school community through the events and after school activities offered by the PTA. Specifically, the PTA offers clubs (Running Club, Earth Savers Club, Chess Club), plans and implements the Fall Festival, participates in the Reflections Program, and even offers scholarships for future educators.  All of these events and activities are run by volunteers.  We understand that time is limited and what you can give may vary, but we welcome everyone regardless of how much time you can give and we can find a spot for you to assist–whether through holding a position  on the executive board or volunteering for an hour at an event. Anything you can do to assist by volunteering your time is appreciated and valued. At this time we need volunteers for Yearbook Coordinator and Reflections Chair.  Please consider filling one of these two positions.

The events, activities, and educational support resources that the PTA provides cost money, and our PTA actively raises funds to support these activities.  The primary ways in which the PTA raises funds are through Trailblazer Club donations, the relationships we have with our business sponsors, participating in our spirit nights  and through our shopping rewards program.  All money raised goes directly to help teachers purchase educational resources that fall outside what the school can provide and also helps support the clubs, scholarships, and programs offered by the PTA.  Thank you to those who have joined the PTA and Trailblazer Club for 2023-24

Thank you for taking the time to read my note.  I would welcome the opportunity to connect with you, answer questions you may have, and also to provide additional information about becoming involved in the PTA.  Feel free to reach out to me at joshuadavidskillman@gmail.com anytime.  Thank you!

Best,

Josh Skillman
